1. Tour the Old Town - Walk the cobbled streets, check out all the old buildings and squares. (main square picture above) Its a great little town with loads of cafes, pubs and restaurants. AND THE BOOZE IS CHEAP!

  2. Head up the Town Hall tower! - It’s only a couple of euros and the view is amazing (see picture at top). You also get to check out some stuff on the way up, like the bells they used to use, as i did (see picture).

  3. The Blue Church - Blue outside and in, it’s a weird and wonderful sight. Well with venturing there one morning. (see picture at bottom)

  4. Get photos with all the statues! - There’s some brilliant quirky statues all round the old town. Some pop out the ground (see the picture at bottom), some lean on a bench, some are doing a wee dance round the corner!

  5. Head up the castle - Right up the top of the hill is the castle, cracking views of the danube, exhibitions (if that’s your thing, no for me 😀), big statues and posh gardens.

TOP TIP - Do a day out to Vienna or Budapest, only 1 hour by bus to Vienna and 2 hours to Budapest.

top things to do

food & Drink

Liquid Factory - Fancy but cheap! Now thats my kind of restaurant. Modern Slovak tapas (Chk out the pic). Centre of the old town, lovely atmosphere and cracking grub.

Slovak Pub - Proper old school Slovak food, classics such as garlic, cheesy soup in bread and a platter of slovak mains. (see pics at bottom). Great authentic feeling old pub too.

Brixton House - Favourite breakfast/brunch! Really tasty food and i have to say quite delightful presentation!

17s Bar - Lovely wee bar across from the hotel. Fancy a relaxed wee pint then this is a good place to go. (Got a couple of screens for sport too 😉)

Rooftop By Regal - If you’re here in summer then definitely go to this bar. Lovely burgers, cool bar, rooftop wi loads of seating.

Mirror Bar - Not going to lie…it’s expensive, but the service is fantastic and the cocktails are second to none. A tree growing in the centre of the bar, cocktails served with bonsai trees in mist and the flairing from the bar staff make it a very cool place to go.

UFO Restaurant & Bar - On the bridge you’ll find the UFO bar, if you want some posh food with a stunning view of the old town then this is the place to go.

my hotel

Radisson Blu Carlton Hotel - Pretty standard hotel, with the lovely Mirror Bar inside it. Great location in the old town with a big square out the front (see picture).
